My first tour of AFH left me with such an impression – I was excited by the energy and moved by the level of maturity the teen artists demonstrated in explaining their work. What a cool organization with committed people, I just had to be a part of it!

AFH works closely with Advisors to create personalized ways to advance our mission. Advisors support AFH by:

  • Learning about and understanding AFH

  • Sharing your passion for AFH with your network

  • Attending and bringing guests to AFH gatherings and events

  • Referring clients to AFH for commissions of fine art and design services

  • Making a financial contribution

  • Connecting AFH with other philanthropic individuals, corporations, and foundations

Advisors are prominently listed on our letterhead and website, commit to a $2,500 annual contribution, which contributes to teen wages.

Volunteer Academic Tutors

One-on-one academic tutoring is one way to get involved as a volunteer at AFH in Boston. As an after-work supplemental program, tutoring provides critical support to AFH teen employees to ensure a stronger pathway toward academic success and beyond. Our tutoring program is one of AFH’s teen employment benefits and runs during the school year, typically on Monday and Friday afternoons, and after work hours on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

Volunteering as an AFH tutor means doing something that matters by helping teens to reach their academic goals and advance toward a successful high school graduation. The best way to start the conversation is visit our studios, meet our young people, and talk with us about becoming involved.

I was so pleased that the students continued coming back for additional SAT help, even after they had taken the SAT once. Especially because SAT prep is ‘extra’ not ‘required’, it made me feel like they really valued the support I was offering them and also made me feel like I was helping them with something that mattered to them.
